Sledding 

Sledding is one of the best winter pastimes when there’s fresh snow on the ground, and you don’t have to pay a fee to enjoy it. Options for sledding not far from Halsey Flats include:

• Cherokee Park – Just a few minutes away, this park offers a designated sledding area, open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. when conditions are right. Check the park’s website for more details.

• Charlie Vettiner Park – This 283-acre park has a dog run and a sledding hill (along with plenty of options for warm-weather fun, when spring arrives).
